Richard Hammond

Richard runs Green Traveller Media, a production agency that specialises in producing content with purpose for the visitor economy. He's an accomplished videographer and has produced videos for hotels, tour operators, tourist boards, NGOs and international organisations. He holds the CAA and EASA certificates to fly drones commercially, and has been trained by the TV & Film Consortium Albert to reduce the carbon footprint of film productions. Richard has worked in the media for over 20 years; he was the Guardian's eco travel correspondent 2004-2008, Travel Editor of National Geographic GREEN, and wrote the responsible traveller column in Geographical - the magazine of the Royal Geographic Society. He has also written articles about sustainable travel for the FT, Sunday Times, Telegraph and has written two books, Clean Breaks (Rough Guides, co-authored with Jeremy Smith) and The Green Traveller (HarperCollins, 2022). He edits The Green Traveller magazine and oversees the publication of green traveller guides on his website greentraveller.co.uk.
